A Course in Miracles: Lesson 312
“I see all things as I would have them be.”
This is one of the first ideas presented in A Course in Miracles. Yet, for those unfamiliar with A Course, this idea is very strange and perhaps even threatening.
To understand this lesson, one must know the law of cause and effect - one of the most fundamental laws there is. This law says thought is always the cause, and form is its effect. Everything that appears in form must first have been thought. Because our minds are joined above the level of form, this entire world, this entire universe, is the product our joined minds. We are not alone in our creation.
What I “see” is what I first think. How I interpret what I see makes all the difference. This is a lesson we are learning on an individual level as well as a group level and its effect will be to change the world.
Our full realization of the power of thought is just beginning. Science and spirituality are merging knowledge through quantum physics. The fact that consciousness alters reality on a quantum level is now almost beyond doubt. The future application of this knowledge might seem miraculous but it will be nothing more than the law of cause and effect.
What do we do with this knowledge? On an individual level, we can acknowledge the content of our thoughts. Our mind never loses its creative force because that is its purpose, its gift, from Universal Mind. But true creation comes only through the power of a mind whose thoughts are whole in Love. What is it you are creating with?
We also need to understand that we never create in isolation. Minds are joined above the level of form. In a very real way, this makes individual creation critical because each of us contributes to the whole. A major purpose of A Course in Miracles is the liberation of the individual in order to liberate the whole. And the whole is more significant that its parts. Each of us is part of a creation that is beyond our individual imagining.
How would you have things be? You will know through what you think you see. You will know through your judgment of what you see. Perception IS everything. Is a stone just a stone? Or is it a glowing collection of atoms and molecules vibrating with its own uniqueness? Is the woman in the mirror an aging body made of flesh and bone? Or, is she a perfect, eternal, being of light experiencing itself as form in time? What is the truth of it? What is the truth you see?
