A Course in Miracles: Lesson 363
Author William Buhlman is an experienced out-of-body traveler. Based on over 40 years of experience, Buhlman describes consciousness as a form of non-physical energy extending its influence into matter through the use of biological vehicles. “All biological life-forms (including plant and animal life) are temporary cellular vehicles used by conscious energy for expression in a dense environment.” In other words, all biological life forms are, as A Course would say, “Holy Sons of God.”
William Buhlman is an explorer of inner reality, which he says is the birthplace of all reality. Our perception of the visible universe and our place in it is totally inaccurate. The universe in NOT the center of reality; it is only the outer crust, the thin epidermis layer of an inner realm of consciousness with multiple levels.
Buhlman is convinced that the physical sciences are not equipped to explore the true nature of reality. As long as science confines its focus to the physical embodiment of consciousness, the inner reality from which all matter is derived will remain unrecognized.
Our future explorations of the physical world will move us inward. The creative power of consciousness will be seen for what it is: the origin of all dense matter, indeed all “external” form. What will really pop the cork is the discovery that our evolution from a physical creature to a multidimensional, non-physical being, is directly linked to the conscious control of our minds.
If Columbus had been content to believe the earth was flat he would never have discovered America. If Galileo had rested his theories on earth as the center of the known universe, we might not have ever landed on the moon. But the newest uncharted territory is not “out there,” it is inward, and those who discover it will be among the most venerated of all explorers.
What does all of this have to do with A Course in Miracles? It has everything to do with it. We are currently focused only on form, which is the outer layer of all thought. Form is not important – the thought that creates it IS. Inner reality is thought-responsive. This is so important it bears repeating. INNER REALITY IS THOUGHT-RESPONSIVE. What we think is what we are.
“This holy instant would I give to You.
Be You in charge. For I would follow You,
Certain that Your direction gives me peace.”
I am going to go out on a limb here and say that giving each instant to Source is just a stepping-stone. It simply gets us out of fear and ego-based reality. Ego=body=fear=the limited outer dream. Non-physical =spirit= unlimited inner reality.
When I give my thoughts to God I short-circuit fear and time. This creates the holy instant in which all possibilities exist. The more holy instances I have, the greater my inner vision becomes until I see with certainty what I am, which is a non-physical being having a physical experience. Giving my thoughts to Source is the only valid replacement for giving them to the ego.
Tomorrow I will write more about the great indoctrination of the physical. Our recognition that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience is nothing less than discovering the earth is round, the sun is the center of the known universe, or that rubbing two sticks together makes fire.
Until then, enjoy the arrival of winter.
